Harchester United

Club History

Below is a guide about the club history :

At the beginning of the 1998/99, The Jacobs sold the club to Jerry Block. Jerry wanted the team to be a force in The Premiership so he signed up Luis Amor Rodriguez from Argentina. He was a real asset to the club and by the end of the season Harchester won the FA Cup, with a winner from Rodriguez. The day ended in tragedy though. As the team paraded the cup around the stadium, John Black, the ever dependable defender was killed by gunshot. Lynda Block, Jerry Block's wife, was also shot, but managed to escape death.

During summer 1999 Jerry Block funded the building of a new stadium - "The Dragon's Lair".

Another terrible tragedy struck Harchester during the 1999/00 season. Harchester, who had beat Ajax in the UEFA Cup on away goals, could not get home because of delayed flights. First team players Leon Richards, Sean Hocknell and Victor Tankiev were offered to be flown home on a private jet. None of the players returned and were suspected dead. People believe the plane was hit by lightning.

A match fixing scandal rocked Harchester in the 2002/03 season. It was found, that the manager, Patrick Doyle had bet on the club to be relegated. He had help from Harchester goalkeeper, Jamie Parker, who took the team hostage on the final game of the season. Harchester United needed to win this game to stay up but it was abandoned at halftime due to the circumstances. The team were allowed to replay the game, but it meant they couldn't play their FA Cup Final match, and the cup went straight to Arsenal. The club beat Everton in the replay and stayed up.

2003/04 brought relegation to Harchester. They were embroiled in yet another match fixing scandal, they finished 4th in The Premiership but UEFA chose to punish and relegate the team. They managed to keep their place in the Champions League, but had to settle for a place in Division 1, newly named The Coca-Cola Championship.

During the 2004/2005 the team reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League, getting knocked out by Arsenal. They reached the play-off final, winning promotion back to The Premiership, but Harchester United were hit by the worst tragedy to hit the club since 1906/08 when many of the first team died in a stadium fire.

Just before the team left for the playoff final, their manager, Don Barker, killed Dragons fixture Karl Fletcher during an argument, and loaded Fletcher's body into the boot of his car. During the match, Fletcher's body was discovered in the car. Soon afterwards, while the Dragons were celebrating on the team coach, Barker drove the petrol-filled car, carrying Fletcher's body, into the coach, killing the entire team except for Ryan Naysmith, Danny Sullivan and Tyson. The manager, Vivian Wright, was never found in the wreckage.

In 2005/06, an unknown organization took control of the club, input a large amount of money to rebuild the team and appointed former CEO Lynda Block and experienced German manager Felix Hahn. The club made a number of controversial signings including the troublesome pair of Casper and Eugene Rose (who haven't seen eye to eye for 4 years) and lower league Midfielder Liam MacKay. Because of their relationship and the club getting to grips with promotion, under Hahn the club struggled. Felix Hahn resigned in January by order of the secret owner. Lynda Block then bought in Lawrie Hannigan to replace Hahn but then he went missing. The post was then offered to Assistant Manager Alex Rose (who was bought in by the secret owner). Under Dempsey the club climbed up the table to 10th place, became beaten finalists in the Carling Cup and won the FA Cup. Despite the successful season Casper Rose was killed by Dempsey with an ink pot smashing into his temple. It was revealed that Casper Rose was in fact the owner after he was mysteriously murdered. It was also revealed that Dempsey is a rose brother and that the club were left to Alex and Eugene. Because of this Harchester paid tribute to Rose by winning the FA Cup for the second time and Alex changed his surname to Rose. Team fitness coach Ashleigh King confessed to the killing despite having no memory of committing the crime. However she was released from prison with no charge.

The 2006/07 season has started interestingly for the dragons. Last seasons success has paved the way for winger Ryan Naysmith to join Villarreal and playmaker Hector to move to Bayern Munich. Eugene Rose also sold his half of the club to Alex Rose and moved to Australia to play to Sydney FC. To replace these departures the club signed Miguel Lopez from Athletico Madrid for a undisclosed fee and Pavel Kovac from AC Milan on a free transfer. The club are also giving 19 year old midfielder Jason Porter a one month trial as he impressed Rose during a pre season friendly.

Despite this promise there has been the usual dark cloud over the dragons lair. The police made Lynda Block their prime suspect in the Casper Rose murder investigation and suspect Alex Rose in assisting in the crime. Because of this Block has fled Harchester leaving Alex Rose to confess to the killing of his half brother. This was done after he ensured that the club was in the right hands as he handed the managers job to his former team mate Jimmy Craig and the chairman's role to head of the supporters club, Terry Harrison.
